Scrabble tournaments are one of the most popular board game tournaments in the world. You can play scrabble professional games and can make money out of it.
Every year hundreds of scrabble tournaments are held locally. Most of these have prize money and few for charity purpose. To play scrabble tournaments, check the North America Scrabble Players Association’s website.

To play scrabble tournaments you are required to register first as a member of NASPA. The registration fee is $30 per year. You can also get 6-month trial membership for $15, if you are a new player.
The NASPA also recommends you to join a local Scrabble club, to play scrabble, for practice play.
In August 2012 National Scrabble tournament was held in Orlando, Florida. Over 330 players participated in it. The winner prize was $ 10,000 and total pool prizes were of $36,150.
If you have already participated in any local, sanctioned Scrabble tournament you are eligible for National Scrabble Tournament. Last year entry fee, to play scrabble tournament, ranged from $50 to $175.
The scrabble tournament may last for 4-5 days so you need to book the hotel also. Organizers also arrange hotel booking at group rates.
