If you don’t want to go away from your home you may try to sell these to your friends, family and neighbors or even to the local grocery store.

In this article we will learn step by step selling process of the produce, to learn about producing vegetables etc. read my article make money from gardening:

Step 1:
Before you even start check with your local authorities, is there any license required to sell the products you are interested in, to avoid any legal complications in future. All markets have some different rules that need to be followed by every vendor. You may have to file an application for permission to sell your produce. Contact the market manager for more information and help.

Step 2:
Now you have the license, it’s time to start your business (always keep a copy of license with you when you go to the market for selling). Try to get some good space in the market. The location is vital for success. How to select the right place? Visit market 2-3 times and check in which area of the market related products are sold.

Step 3:
You now have license and place to sell and you already have the product. Arrange means of transportation to your location. Either you can use your own vehicle or you can hire a van. Normally there are people available, with vehicle, in the market. They will take your produce from home and leave it to your market place for some charges.

Step 4:
A question may come in your mind now that how should we set the prices; the best and recommended way is your prices should be competitive. Even if you can lower your prices a bit, it would be great. Remember, your products are perishable and you cannot keep them for longer periods, unless you have a cold storage. Therefore, try to sell all of your produce every week, even if you have to keep prices lower. Otherwise, you will again have to bear the transportation cost, storage charges. Moreover, some of the produce will perish for sure. Hence set your prices, taking care of all such factors.

Step 5:
Once you go to the market, you will find a lot of people selling the same items. You will have to stand out to become successful. You might try to do better grading, packing, include recipe book, or selling rare vegetables or herbs.

Step 6:
The way you display your produce, will have great impact on the buyers. Place your produce underneath a cover to protect it from the sun, keep them clean, do grading etc. Prominently display your prices, and clearly identify the things that make your products special. Personalize your stand with signs.

Don’t forget that you’ll need a scale, bags or boxes for weighing and transportation purpose.
